Interior Design Concept & Design Development

CLIFFSIDE VILLA is a private residence that will be constructed on the West coast of Koh Phangan, Thailand.

The overall design brief of the villa was an open concept given the tropical environment.

The house owner wants to host events from time to time so the living area is designed to preserve a flow, with the ideao of having the bar area as the center of activity in the house. While the front/show kitchen functions both as a bar and a serving counter, as well an extension of the dining area, the back/prep kitchen is where most of the heavy duty cooking will happen.

The living area is an open box with windows that can open on almost all sides. The idea is to have a space where one can relax and ‘chill out’ but also have functionality for entertaining guests and watching media.

The area to the north faces out to the sea and this is where it is important to capture the views out over the bay. Because the space can be almost completely opened, regard was given to furnishings that could be both outdoor and indoor.

The bedroom is designed to be completely shut off during an event and it was designed to reflect the local crafted details in a contemporary manner.

Except for the loose furnitures in the in the living room and the outdoor terrace, which had been selected from Kettal, all fixed furnitures like the bar counter, consoles, libraries, headboard and bedside tables, wardrobe, make-up table and the vanity unit had been designed bespoke.

For the bathroom and showers, instead of seperating the space with walls, a tunnel had been located with a box-in-a-box approach, coated in hammered bronze metal, ensuring the light passing through all surfaces.

Outdoor furnitures have been selected from Kettal, Molo & Cala Collections.
