Loft Interior Design & Landscape Concept

Located in CER İstanbul’s T3 Building in Yedikule, AA Loft is a three story house with a total of 190 m2. The project area is a former historic railway maintenance yard which served trains since the early 19th Century.

Yedikule Fortress and the historic Byzantine and medieval bulwarks, neighbouring the site, date back to 5th Century and are one of the most important artifacts in the historical peninsula. Yedikule is also known for its urban gardens, which are famous for their cabbages and lettuces, which are still active.

Our client, a young mom with two kids, wanted us to design a living scenario for them, in which the house would feel like a roller coaster. She wanted a different color palette for each room, contemporary and chaotic (like İstanbul) yet balanced at the same time. She specifically asked for a “playground” rather than a house.

Yedikule is a truly unexpected neighbourhood. As you walk alongside the historical bulwarks, you can easily exclude yourself from time and space as the history is still so heavy in the air. At the same time, as you give in to the ancient mood, an instantaneous minibus horn immediately brings you back to “now”. With all these references and our client’s brief, we have come up with a modern “Alice in Wonderland” theme for the loft.

Combining contemporary design elements, minimal and crafted details, blended with unexpected patterns and colours, the house becomes a continuously living structure. All loose & fixed furnitures have been specifically designed bespoke, supporting the wow effect behind each door.

Outdoor furnitures have been selected from Kettal, Cala Collection. Wall Murals by İksel & Designmixer.
